October 3, 2024 – January 3, 2025

Second Floor, Cleveland City Hall

The City of Cleveland, in collaboration with Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, proudly presents La Promesa: Celebrating Legacy, Empowering Generations, Inspiring the Future of Hispanic-Latino Art, an exhibition dedicated to honoring, preserving, and elevating the rich cultural narratives that have shaped our community. This celebration of heritage is a powerful reminder of the indelible contributions of these artists to Cleveland’s artistic and cultural fabric.

Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, led by Executive Director Letitia Lopez, is at the heart of this 2nd transformative exhibition to be held at Cleveland City Hall. As a key partner in curating and implementing La Promesa, the center has played an instrumental role in bringing the vision of this exhibition to life. With decades of service to the community, Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center has long championed the arts, providing platforms for underrepresented voices, and empowering artists to share their stories. Their leadership on this project not only celebrates the present and past but also looks toward a vibrant future for Hispanic-Latino art in Cleveland.

“La Promesa is our commitment, through the Unidos por El Arte Artist Initiative, to support and uplift our local Latino artists. This exhibition not only provides a platform for these talented individuals to showcase their work, but also highlights the incredible contributions they make to our city’s cultural landscape.” – Letitia Lopez
